For a long time it seemed that this year’s motor show in Detroit will pass in the mark of General Motors, and then unexpectedly came up Ford and stole the media attention. The largest U.S. automaker has introduced remanufactured Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, then a brand new electric Cadillac ELR and the seventh generation of the popular Chevrolet Corvette, and than Ford has just confirmed the official launch of the Transit. However, a few weeks before the Detroit auto salon on the Internet has began to circulate rumors that Ford is preparing a concept that in two years it goes on sale as the next-generation F-150. This is the most popular vehicles in the USA in the past 27 years and most popular pickup truck on the mentioned market in the past 37 years. This concept under Atlas label is attracted the most attention and won a design award in the world’s biggest Auto Show. There is very low information about the 2015 Ford Atlas, and we will pass on what we know. Although the 2015 Atlas at the moment just a concept, Ford says the production model will provide 80% of the identical line. On the design side, Atlas provides the next generation of the popular American grill manufacturers of vehicles, and there are LED headlights inspired by the larger Superduty (F-250, F-350 and F-450) models.

Compared to its predecessor the 2015 Ford Atlas will be significantly larger and more aggressive, but still Ford plans to reduce weight by 300 kg thanks to the use of aluminum and other lightweight materials. The only mystery that still reigns as the interior Atlas provides interior done in the typical style of a concept car, and it’s hard to believe that it could enter into production. We will mention a couple of words about mechanics. New Ford Atlas is the first pickup with Stop-Start system (which itself off when towing a load) and the technology will be transferred to the production model. The special technology of the future plays already mentioned Grill, with special vents that open and close depending on engine speed and thus improve aerodynamics. Ford expects that it will be able to return to the title of the most economical full-size pickups on the American market, which this year lost to Ram 1500 for a pint (24mpg to 25 mpg on the highway). 2015 Ford Atlas will also be paired with modern technology, such as Dynamic Hitch Assist (help when driving uphill) and a camera under 360 degrees, which will also be standard on all models. Ford has not released much information about engines, but stressed that the concept of Atlas provides the next generation of the famous 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine. In the F-150 this engine develops 365 hp and 569 Nm of torque and power until 2015 should be increased to over 400 HP.

Another engine will continue to be offered, and that is the 5.0L Coyote V8, which now develops 360 hp and 515 Nm of torque. The new standard engine will be a 3.5L V6 with 280 hp and 339 Nm of torque, and the offer will include the new 2.7 L EcoBoost V6 engine with 320 hp and 508 Nm of torque. Unfortunately, a large 6.2L V8 engine will be out of stock, and Ford says that he chose such a move as 3.5L EcoBoost develops the same power with lower consumption. As before, the power will be transmitted to the rear wheels (or optional 4×4) via a six-speed automatic transmission. For now, there is much speculation, but in order to see the production model will have to wait for the same Auto Show next year.

Ford has once again confirmed the superiority in the world of pickups and large accounts frustrate rival General Motors. We hope to be just as delighted when his debut and the production model.
